HELLO LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, I WANTED TO COME BY AND GIVE YOU GUYS A QUICK UPDATE ON DX12. FIRST OFF DX12 WILL NOT HELP THE XBOX ONE CONSOLE HARDWARE.DX12 WILL HELP THE DEVELOPMENT OF GAMES ON AND FOR THE XBOX ONE CONSOLE.DX12 WAS DESIGNED TO GIVE DEVS FULL CONTROL OF THE CPU,GPU AND ESRAM.IT WAS DESIGNED TO HELP MAKE THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS ON XBOX ONE EASIER AND QUICKER.WHILE LETTING DEVS ACHIEVE THE MAXIMUM POWER OF THE XBOX ONE.YOU GUYS KNOW HOW ABOUT THE FINER CPU CONTROL OF THE CPU CORES.SO I WILL NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THAT. IT WILL ALSO GIVE DEVS BETTER CONTROL OVER TILING THE TILE RESOURCES AND THE FRAMES THAT ARE RENDER FROM GPU.IT WILL GIVE THEM GREATER FRAME RATE BUFFERS ALSO WHICH WILL HELP IN ATTAINING HIGHER RESOLUTIONS. ONE THING THAT WILL BECOMING AFTER DX12 LAUNCHES ON XBOX ONE IS GPU MULTI THREADING.NOW THIS MULTI THREADING WILL BE USED IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES.THE MULTI THREADING AND THE DUAL GRAPHIC COMMAND PROCESSORS IS WHAT STARTED THE DUAL OR TWO GPU RUMOR.IN A SENSE WITH THE MULTI THREADING GPU CORES THE GPU PERFORMS TO A CLOSE LEVEL LIKE A DUAL GPU SET UP.THE PROBLEM IS IT CAN NOT BE USED IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES AT THIS POINT IN TIME. NOW THE QUESTION I AM ASKED A LOT.....HOW MUCH WILL DX12 HELP GAMES ON AND FOR XBOX ONE....THE ANSWER IS.... IT DEPENDS ON THE DEVELOPER.DX12 IS LEAGUES AHEAD OF ANY DX BEFORE IT.DX12 USED WITH THE XBOX ONE HARDWARE SHOULD MAKE GREAT PERFORMANCE GAINS.AALL DEVS SHOULD USE IT,IT MAKES THEIR LIFE EASIER AND GIVES THEM A LOT OF TOYS AND CONTROL THEY HAVE ASKED FOR.IT JUST BOILS DOWN TO THE OLD SAYING.YOU CAN LEAD THE HORSE TO WATER,BUT YOU CAN'T MAKE THEM DRINK.IF DEV USES DX12 AND XBOX ONE TO THE MAXIMUM CAPABILITIES YOU WILL HAVE A TRUE NEXT GEN EXPERIENCE! IT IS HARD TO PUT A PERCENTAGE ON IT BECAUSE OF THE XFACTOR THE DEVELOPERS THEIR SELF. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS LEAVE THEM IN THE POST AND I WILL TRY TO ANSWER AS I HAVE FREE TIME! ALSO IF YOU WATCH TWITCH.TV GO GIVE MILKEY A FOLLOW AT THEMISTERPHENIXALSO IF YOU GOT A ? AND I DONT RESPONDED ON HERE FAST ENOUGH FOR YOU TWEET MILKEY @themrphenix THANK YOU XBOXGAF

It's a dual GPU setup with the resources of a single GPU or in other words the existing GPU is utilized much better than before! Right?

NO.IT'S A SINGLE GPU.THE CORES OF THE GPU SUPPORT MULTI THREADING IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES.IN THEORY IT CAN PERFORM IN SOME SITUATIONS LIKE A DUAL GPU,BUT IT IS NOT A DUAL GPU.IT WILL NOT PERFORM THIS MULTI THREADING ALL THE TIME,RIGHT NOW IT IS VERY LIMITED.

Maybe I wasn't explaining it the right way what I meant I try it again As I understand it the Xbox One SOC has a single GPU (1.31TF atm) that is capable of doing multithreading (but not in all circumstances). In result the multithreading is utilizing the HW, that is valued as 1.31TF, much better but don't increase the HW spec in any way. In short words: It allows developers to squeeze more out of the existing hardware. Did I understood it the correct way?

Good post. All believable stuff that makes sense. My one question would be... If this is all true, why is MS so "secretive" about aspects of DX12? If some of the things you say and Wardell say are true, they should be shouting it from rooftops (it's that good).

lol thought this forum was 6 ft under. chanogram. you ask why microsoft is not screaming it from the rooftops. because dx12 will always subjected to the mercy of developers. everyone can say it will do this and that but then 1 shit developer (konami) will bring a game out at 720p and everyone will say dx12 was ineffective. i said this on the other forum but it is up to microsoft to make 1st party games above and beyond expectation and belief. then 3rd party developers only excuse will be we porting from the ps4.

Or we will have to wait 2016? 343I IS WORKING WITH AN EARLY PREVIEW BUILD OF DX12.SO I BELIEVE HALO 5 WILL BE ONE OF THE FIRST GAMES TO USE A LOT OF DX12 TOOLS.I CAN'T SAY IF IT WILL BE 100% DX12.MOST 1ST PARTY STUDIOS HAVE AN EARLY PREVIEW BUILD OF DX12 AND BETA SDK DEV KITS.

If some of the things you say and Wardell say are true, they should be shouting it from rooftops (it's that good). IT IS HARD TO GIVE A NUMBER TO SHOW THE DIRECT PERFORMANCE DELTA OF DX12 ON GAMES FOR AND ON XBOX ONE.THERE IS DIFFERENT ENGINES,DIFFERENT GENRES OF GAMES.MICROSOFT IS WORKING WITH UNITY AND UNREAL TO MAKE THEM VERY DX12 FRIENDLY AND READY.SOME GAMES LIKE RTS WILL HAVE A HIGHER PERFORMANCE GAIN THEN SAY A FPS LIKE BATTLEFIELD.THEN YOU FACTOR IN DEVELOPERS AND THEIR CUSTOM ENGINES IT ADDS MORE DIFFICULTY TO GIVE A PERCENTAGE NUMBER THAT PEOPLE ARE CLAMORING FOR. IT'S NOT JUST TRYING TO BE SECRETIVE.SOME IS KEEP SECERT BECAUSE THEIR IS COMPETITORS TRYING TO OVER THROW DX AS MAIN GRAPHICS API.THE SECOND IS WHY TALK NOW?LET DX12 HIT THE MASS AND LET THE DEVS AND GAMES SPEAK FOR YOU?ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THEN WORDS!

But please explain me how SW is able to let HW exceed its physical limitations (hw spec & hw resources)? Or do you want to say that it looks like a 1.5TF machine because of the very high efficiency that is reached by multithreading? Or is it that the HW spec isn't calculated correctly by MS in for example the XDK?
