Wolfenstein devs suggest an end may be coming to the 'resolution debate' www.xboxmad.net/index.php?subaction=showfull&x=articles&id=1400685086 … via @xboxmaddotnet

"Are you bored reading articles and comments about the Xbox One's graphical capabilities? God knows we are.
...in fact the only reason i'm prepared to put finger to keyboard in the name of resolution is because there is some hope that it may be a thing of the past before too long. That, and its a slow news day.
MachineGames, the games company who just finished developing Wolfenstein: The New Order, has suggested that the hardware differences between the Xbox One and PS4 are closer than people might think. This comes with the support of them releasing the game running at 1080p 60fps on both new-gen consoles.
Andreas Ojerfors, who is the senior gameplay designer at MachineGames and on the new Wolfenstein, stated in a recent interview that developing games across the new platforms is actually easier than it was on the last generation.
He said to website Techradar "There was a much bigger difference in making a game for both PS3 and Xbox 360 back in the day than what it is now,"
"The new platforms are much, much more similar to work with than what we're used to. So it is less of a challenge this time than it has been before."
We could go into the importance of 1080p resolution and go into detail about why its just overblown PR spin. Truth is though, that even if its only to put an end to the bickering and clickbait articles, It's a relief to many Xbox One owners that Wolfenstein joins the growing number of games that run at 1080p, 60fps.
Ojerfors said the devil was in the details;
"It's about creating an engine that is from the very bottom up built to scale. I think from the beginning it's been an ongoing effort both here at Machinegames but also with a great deal of help from id software to make sure it's an engine that continues to scale on the next generation of platforms"
So lots of tech speak, but lets hope it's also the shape of things to come. Between devs starting to really get to grips with the hardware, new SKUs and DirectX12 on the horizon, things are certainly starting to look very good for the Xbox One. Next stop E3
