Microsoft is currently developing six original programs for its Xbox platform, according to a Bloomberg report. This includes a new sci-fi show called Humans, which was recently revealed as a collaboration between Microsoft and UK's Channel 4, and the Steven Spielberg-produced Halo TV series. Speaking to Bloomberg, Microsoft's Nancy Tellem said "We aren’t trying to find something that’s going to be accepted by the largest common denominator, which is what a lot of people in the business look for." In September of 2012, Microsoft hired Telem, a former CBS executive, to oversee the creation of original entertainment content for Xbox Live. "We’re focused on what we feel our audience on our platform wants," she added. Microsoft is looking to focus on the coveted 18-34 male demographic. Microsoft is looking to join other online content providers such as Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu, who have seen varying degrees of success with such originals as Orange is the New Black on Netflix and Betas on Amazon. The programs are being designed to have interactive elements that "make use of the Xbox technology," according to the report. One example cited is the reality soccer program "Every Street United," where viewers will unlock extra scenes and be able to play mini-games during the show. IGN Article Link
