Is anyone else subscribed to the beta? I'm interested in helping the community and post the latest changes as they occur. Stay tuned, I'll try to post something during the course of the day. **ChanogramAdding list for Poster: - Game and app saves and updates - A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently.
- Friends improvements - Notifications will be added to see when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. This actually was one of the most frequently requested features from the first preview wave and we made it a priority to include it in the April update. Also, friends who are in multiplayer will be identified in the friends list. We’ll also add the ability to view friends’ most popular apps.
- Kinect voice and motion improvements will continue to fine tune the quality and reliability of Xbox One commands.
- Improved GameDVR video quality through compression algorithm improvements.

I'm sure most of us are, on this forum. The april update doesn't have any cosmetic changes that I can see... I guess the most touted update is the "truly" automatic updates that will now download, install, and reboot back to standby mode. So you won't have to install the update after downloading one when getting on the xbox, it should do all this automatically now.
Something we got a week or so back is the ability to see whether or not Friends are in front of their console or not, marked by a symbol of a controller next to their status. (I guess this does count towards the April update.)
This update is to come out in waves, however.. and eventually we'll get friend notifications in the coming month.

There is one thing that is in there now, and i'm not sure when it was implemented as i just noticed last night. When you are looking at your followers there is a little symbol next to their name that indicates whether or not you have added them as a friend, or if they are just a follower of you. This could have been there for weeks for all i know, but it makes it a LOT easier to see who added you that you haven't added back yet.
Right now, i'm basically adding everyone as a friend that follows me. Anyone that doesn't have me added yet, GT is Chanogram.

I didn't noticed that either with earlier updates, chanogram. They also added the slider to control volume between snapped apps and games and it also marks, recently updated apps and games with a *, also coming is the ability to see save game progress. Waiting eagerly for the friends notifications that I so miss from my 360. There is, apparently, an unannounced feature coming in the update later, wondering what it is. Anyone up for some speculation? In case you missed this announcement, it's posted on the preview update forums.

Before we continue discussing the update, I think it would be a good idea to make a sticky thread or a forum area for beta updates in general, to help people that might be having problems with update and, while I agree that most in this forums are in the update program, I do not find this kind of discussions as redundant, since plan for this forum is to make it grow and new users will join that probably aren't in the preview and want to know about updates and have civil discussions, free of trolling and without personal attacks for liking Xbox and MS.

I'm done with the beta updates I unregistered. I'm interested in getting stuff early but I really don't have the patience to put up with all the bugs. This recent beta has slowed my box down to a crawl at times caused problems with party chat and bluray drive being stuck in standby.
I don't get enough time to play as it is and having to deal with the bugs as well is frustrating.
Going to let others beta test from now on and just wait a few extra weeks for a bug free update. ;-)

New update available from tonight, here are the changes:
A new 1404 system update starting to deploy tonight!
We have started to deploy the latest 1404 update (xb_rel_1404.140331-2200). Consoles that are in standby mode will be able to install the update starting at 7:30PM PDT on 4/2. Consoles that have not received the update in standby mode by 1:00AM PDT on 4/4 will be prompted to install the update when they connect to Xbox Live. The following changes are contained within this build:
Fixes ◾Ongoing fixes and adjustments to the user interface. ◾Additional fixes to address audio crackling sound encountered when Dolby Digital is enabled. ◾Fixes for Blu-ray software issues that can result in 0x21 or 0x87de07d1 errors. ◾Update to address an issue where ejecting a Blu-ray disc after the drive is idle can result in the disc being pulled back in, requiring a second eject command. ◾Fix to address Kinect not responding to “yes” or “no” after issuing the “Xbox, turn off” command. ◾Updates to reduce or eliminate Blu-ray drive “seeking” sounds after drive is idle (experienced in the 1403 update.) ◾*NEW CONTROLLER FIRMWARE UPDATE* ◾Update to help address controller disconnect issues. ◾Update to help address headset adapter audio quality.
◾Fix for LiveTV audio outputting in stereo instead of surround sound. ◾Update for the Blu-ray player to fix an issue where it can freeze if left idle or paused for an extended period of time. ◾Update to fix an issue where fast forwarding or rewinding an external video source results in screen freezing when surround sound is enabled. ◾Fix for video playback stuttering while audio plays back normally in several apps (Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, etc.)
Features Enabled ◾Game save progress bar will now display when syncing cloud game saves. ◾50Hz Blu-ray player support for content recorded at 50Hz. ◾Improved GameDVR video quality. ◾Online friends notification, including the ability to filter notifications to all friends, favorites only, or disable friends online notifications altogether. ◾*NEW FEATURE* Requested by the update preview community: Manually install available updates. If a new system update is detected as available, a button will appear under Settings, System that will display “Apply Available System Update.” Note: this feature is being enabled after this current update completes installation. This feature will be available to preview when the next update is made available. ◾*NEW FEATURE* A new ability to automatically redeem a license code from console messages. For future console messages that include a 5x5 license code, a new option will appear to allow you to automatically redeem the license, versus having to copy and paste the license code.

I love the fact that I am now able to control my cable box via Xbox One. This really was a missing feature from the launch days for me! It needs a little finetuning now but it work very good for the moment.

Hey guys, this is my first post here. Been reading the blog for a while now and got the information of your existence over from the misterx blog. I apreciate the existence of such a pro Xbox environment with open minded discussions For the start I have a question to mrzweistein since he also is a german fellow As I see you have access to the OneGuide beta and I am wondering if it is possible to set up the cable box with a german service provider when I use the Xbox in english with USA location setup? I keep the Xbox in english because I prefer the english voice actors in games and I like the english kinect commands better.

Moin Moin!To respond to your question. I have not tried that yet. But as it seems to me you can at least configure your cable/satellite box with the product name independent from the region you logged in. For example there are two ways to do it: Let the Xbox One do the work and try out what IR signal is recognized by the box or do it yourself by typing in the product name. This alone should give you access to the box via voice control. Then there is the channel list and for this I believe this is of course country specific. But thats all speculation. I will test it for you in a few moment and will give back the feedback in this thread. But please, give me some time

Step 1: Change your region to German/Germany and restart Step 2: Config your box and OneGuide on the Xbox while in the German/Germany region Step 3: Test functionality Step 4: Config back to US/English and restart Step 5: Enjoy your german TV with english voice commands as the settings from the german region are still in place Step 6: Have fun and transfer a lot of money to me for being so polite to research that solution for you Step 7: Forget the money just enjoy your Xbox One
